Hmm. Not sure it's the role - don't think he's getting the items directly, because his credit count is, uh, hidden from me too? Though I guess those two things could not be related.
I'll warn ya' before I dip my feet in your blood and run around this place full tilt to cover my crimes, don't worry about it. [Giving him a crooked grin back about the demon thing. And the offer to accompany him on a quest? That's so sweet. Dick you're such a nice boy detective.] Alright. Welcome to the party. I've been adventuring for a really long time though, you know. Kind of my hobby, next to the whole fame thing.
Could he be getting extra money from somewhere...?
[ hmmmm. but now it's all horrible jokes, so: ]
That's not nearly enough of a blood trail for it to be an accurate scenario, you realize? [ because there needs to be 100% more blood for that. ] I've been a superhero since I was nine. I think I should manage not to slow you down.
I, uh-- [Is Angus his kid? I mean. Sort of. That feels like a very vulnerable and emotionally honest thing to admit, but maybe it's a vulnerable and emotionally honest kind of day.] Yeah. We found him on a train?
[Though, his face kind of falls after a second.] Had, I guess. I think everyone I know is probably dead?

We solved a murder mystery together, then he sort of followed us home.
[He wasn't kidding about the long history of weird adventures. The brief moment of genuine despair seems to pass, since he quickly shoves down any sort of emotion about it and blanks out his face again.]
I left at a very bad time. Was in the middle of something very important. And, uh, I mean, we were all probably going to die? But I think without me, they either would have all died within a few hours, or jettisoned that universe for another, and I'll just never see them again? That's not, like, my ego talking, I'm just saying it was kind of important I be there. But I don't think they'd run this time.
I have a plan though. I'm kind of thinking-- all this, counts for some leveling up, right? If that happens, then there's a spell I can use. And there's like, uh, a pretty good chance I either die horribly, or a finger on a Monkey's Paw curls somewhere and I destroy a universe, or something equally terrible, or, maybe it works, and I set everything right?
[ that's a bit cliche, but it's immediately offset by, uh, everything else taako says. leveling up and spells and destroyed universes and it is. kind of a lot. dick at least seems to be following along, even with the leveling up talk, and while he has questions (like, a lot?) he doesn't think making taako explain the rules of his (universe? dimension? world?) home would be any help right now. ]
How good would you say your odds are that spell works how you want it to?
[ there's no judgment there, only curiosity-- if it's the only way, working with terrible odds is something he's done himself, but he wants to know how worried he should be for taako after all this. ]

[But yeah, horrible jokes for a while seems good.]
Oh, so the Boy Detective thing starts young for everyone then? That makes sense. Ours is, uh, 10 or so.

[ it's a light tone, because. he gets that taako doesn't want to worry so he's trying to roll with it ]

[He reaches out to like. Mock hit him - then . . . remembers it's still fuckin' aphro week and quickly retracts his hand.]
Hey, does Junpei have a role too? Can you even answer that? I guess I could just ask him.

Talking to him might be a good idea if you want "in" anyway. [ "in" like they're an elite group and not convenient roommates, ]
