I, uh-- [Is Angus his kid? I mean. Sort of. That feels like a very vulnerable and emotionally honest thing to admit, but maybe it's a vulnerable and emotionally honest kind of day.] Yeah. We found him on a train?
[Though, his face kind of falls after a second.] Had, I guess. I think everyone I know is probably dead?

We solved a murder mystery together, then he sort of followed us home.
[He wasn't kidding about the long history of weird adventures. The brief moment of genuine despair seems to pass, since he quickly shoves down any sort of emotion about it and blanks out his face again.]
I left at a very bad time. Was in the middle of something very important. And, uh, I mean, we were all probably going to die? But I think without me, they either would have all died within a few hours, or jettisoned that universe for another, and I'll just never see them again? That's not, like, my ego talking, I'm just saying it was kind of important I be there. But I don't think they'd run this time.
I have a plan though. I'm kind of thinking-- all this, counts for some leveling up, right? If that happens, then there's a spell I can use. And there's like, uh, a pretty good chance I either die horribly, or a finger on a Monkey's Paw curls somewhere and I destroy a universe, or something equally terrible, or, maybe it works, and I set everything right?
[ that's a bit cliche, but it's immediately offset by, uh, everything else taako says. leveling up and spells and destroyed universes and it is. kind of a lot. dick at least seems to be following along, even with the leveling up talk, and while he has questions (like, a lot?) he doesn't think making taako explain the rules of his (universe? dimension? world?) home would be any help right now. ]
How good would you say your odds are that spell works how you want it to?
[ there's no judgment there, only curiosity-- if it's the only way, working with terrible odds is something he's done himself, but he wants to know how worried he should be for taako after all this. ]

Talking to him might be a good idea if you want "in" anyway. [ "in" like they're an elite group and not convenient roommates, ]
