Not really. There were two drag marks going to the lake - far enough apart that it was hard to tell what made them. But nothing else.

Anyway. I, uh, heard that Lili heard that Yu's killer might've been on Black Shadows. Does that. . . sound right to you?

I trust Lili, y'know? Her first instinct when her friend died was that if there was corruption or something involved with the killer, she'd want to help.

I don't know who else she'll talk to, so I'm not gonna talk to her about anything, uh, Escha related, but I do trust her.

I’m not saying I don’t trust her, I just think corruption almost makes things easier. Someone’s not working an angle that’s, uh, fuckin’ inscrutable to the rest of us.

Yeah. Best I can tell - whoever killed Yu, and it was definitely Escha, figured out that somebody had to do it or we'd all die.

It's kinda brave, I think, but also harder to forgive.

You don’t think you can forgive it? It’s asking someone with a gun to their head to make a rational choice. It’s not any different than corruption in that way, you know?

Not me. I do forgive it. I feel kinda ashamed, if it is that, that I'm not helping more.

But if it was somebody I cared about picked for that reason, it's harder, y'know? It's one thing to go - oh, that person couldn't stop the demon from doing it. It's another to go, oh, that person had no choice, but they still picked my friend.
