[Well, he'd watched Magnus hit the ground after trying to rush in and save Maya, but hadn't done anything more than just stay back and watch. It's clear they aren't going to be able to interfere with this angle, and there's no point in sticking his neck out this early. Once the messy business is done though, and everyone's starting to file out of the cathedral, approaching Magnus. Reaching out like he's going to pat him on the shoulder, then deciding against it, just leaning over to make sure he's like. Breathing or whatever.]

[Groaning a little and picking himself up. He's breathing, he seems fine, just really confused.

He's not really that shattered, even though Maya just died - she was just a girl he liked but barely knew. It's upsetting, but no more upsetting than many of the deaths they've witnessed in their adventures. The fact that he was willing to die for her doesn't change that.]

[Taako feels a little bad - but probably not as badly as he should. For example, he's barely responsible for these deaths, and has a lot of other deaths that he is, at least percentage-wise, a little more haunted by. They suck, but what can he do at this moment? Nothing. Brushing off the front of Magnus' shirt, which is his version of helping.]

You, uh, tried to rush in, then just . . . sort of stopped. Assumed you hit some sort of barrier?

It wasn't a barrier. It was like... I ran out of spell slots on my muscles.

[Getting to his feet and stretching his arms, and then reaching down for his axe a little gingerly, like he expects it to be heavy. It's not - he lifts it just fine.]

[Unimpressed would be an understatement. Taako is withdrawing a bit, pulling his hat down further around his ears and dramatically rolling his eyes. He's a bit less bummed out now that they're clear of the cathedral, but this conversation is . . . not going great.]
